What is Printmaking and what is a Print ? When I tell people that I am a printmaker, this is the first question they ask. Printmaking is not something created by a laser printer or ink-jet printer nor is it a digital giclee print of a painting - at least, not in my opinion. Printmaking is an artform that has been practiced for centuries, however, it is not acknowledged as such or perhaps the ability to create multiple images from a plate or stone or letterpress has been taken for granted. The Metropolitan Museum of Art explains some of the different printmaking techniques - since advances in printmaking are being made constantly - there are likely more techniques one could add to this list.
